  •  chain Pizza.... BLECH. why do people buy it? (9+ / 0-)

can't throw a stone in MY city without it landing in front of a pizza place... usually a mom and pop place and these are the places that make GOOD, sometimes great Pizza...  so why does anyone ever buy a single slice of that corporate created white bread with bad plastic cheese and even worse (from giant cans) red stuff that passes as sauce?

Never ever had a slice of papa johns pizza - its what we call movie theater pizza... that comes frozen and sits under a heat lamp - never had a slice of godfather pizza either or Dominos or any other chain pizza...  IF I want pizza I will go to a mom and pop pizzeria... I especially love the one right outside the local community college down by the beach...  yum and freshly made, with homemade sauce... its owned and operated by an Italian family from "the neighborhood" and has one of the  best 'round' slices in the area AND they sell their slices and pies at slightly less then the current price because their customers are basically college kids who "are loyal customers but dont have a lot of Money"  and I LIKE THAT ATTITUDE.

Sometimes we go to one of the local famous places which are beloved stops on the NYC PIZZA TOUR (Totonnos, L&B, Grimaldi's) some enterprising person began a few years ago to introduce tourists to REAL PIZZA...  not a single stop at a Papa Johns or Godfather.

and when I was younger it was Rocco's Pizza all the way...and MAMA ROCCO who was always 'in the back' making sauce from her family recipe carried to america from 'the old country' and how she would come out from the back, wearing her sauce covered apron, to make sure everyone was loving her food :)  she is gone now and the family business has expanding to TWO Rocco's...each run by one of her sons, both still using her recipes and carrying on her care for her product and her customers.   THAT IS PIZZA.

Papa John's  BLECH... that is for people who have no idea what real pizza is  :)
