We run water from our washer straight to our pond -- obviously, you have to do a lot of research on detergents before you can do this -- and I won't post the name of the brand we use because, frankly, I don't want people going off of a brand name; the chemistry is different in every microclimate, and everybody needs to do this research on their own.

You have hit the nail on the head, though, with the fact that living off the land is not as simple as just deciding to do so.  It is perfectly possible to adapt to climate change, and even to thrive, but it is NOT "perfectly easy".  Some things are obvious -- amaranth takes less water than corn, for example; other things, though, are not so obvious, like where do you come up with the money to convert to solar and wind power?  How do you convert grey and black water sources into usable resources?  How do you mitigate the damage caused by invasive species of bird, bug, reptile, amphibian, etc. without causing more harm as a consequence?

These are all questions requiring serious though, and none of them have universal answers.
