  •  It's not a gambit. It's that old carny game called (8+ / 0-)

"Shoot 'Til You Win". It's speculation that can only be ended by Mitt himself and nobody else. And Harry, et al, can shoot 'til the tax returns are released. Nobody but Willard can release those tax returns. It's not principle, it's fear.
The answer is in the documents. Made $100 million and paid $2 million in taxes? Took tax amnesty? Gave millions to his kids and didn't declare it for federal gift tax purposes? Didn't tithe to the Mormon chuch? Has TWO fancy dancing horses? Who knows, but Mitt?
Wife:  I know you've been calling your ex.
Husband: No, I haven't been calling her.
Wife:  Let me see your cell phone bill.
Husband: No, I won't show you. You'll have to trust me.

Note: H's denial could be true and he just doesn't want to show the record as a matter of principle. Or, it could be true but he's calling another woman. Or, it could be true and he's calling another guy. Or his bookie. Or his connection. Etc, etc.

The implied suggestion that maybe Romney might be acting on principle hit me just as I was taking a swig of coffee. Thanks a lot!

(Could have been worse -- I might have been reading this with the 21-pound cat -- muscle and frame, not fat, mind you -- on my lap....)

On the Internet, nobody knows if you're a dog... but everybody knows if you're a jackass.

      •  As unlikely as it is that Mitt is acting (0+ / 0-)

on principle (the sportsbook at Caesar's has it at 50,000 to 1 and they still can't get action), whatta move if he is. However, I still wouldn't bet it at 50,000 to 1.
