  •  Interestingly, Reid initially floated the claim to (8+ / 0-)

no response whatsoever.  The original statement from Harry that Romney had paid no taxes was highlighted here four weeks ago, but there was absolutely no response from the Romney camp.  That, I believe, is when the claim was verified in Harry's mind, because if it were false, the GOP and Romney would have jumped on it like flies on a dog turd.  There was a several week hiatus between that original statement by Reid and his amped up attack on the Senate floor, where he linked the claim to an inside source.  That time was spent in strategy sessions, I'm pretty sure.

They have the goods and Romney is flailing wildly.  They know he can't release his returns because of it, so either this follows him to November like the slime trail of a slug, or (my contention for some time now) the GOP gets wise and forces him to step down before the impending convention in a couple weeks.

Ironically, if that prediction does bear out, Huntsman will be the most likely replacement.  Or maybe not "ironically," but "tellingly."

    •  He will never step down unless there is proven (0+ / 0-)

criminal activity. And if he did step down he would be replaced by someone to the right of Attila the Hun because the base will scream he was too liberal.

Made it here about 6 weeks ago, I think.
