    And paint him as a Republican now.

    Snowe is officially backing Romney. Murkowski seems like a much better bet, although even that is incredibly unlikely.

      And he didn't switch to being a dem, so you can still paint him as one.  After all, he was endorsed by G.W. Bush.

      But, they say a woman.  I can't think of anyone significant who would do it.  It's got to be someone who's retired.

        Snowe and Collins have both backed Romney, so the likely suspects are out.

        Maybe Lisa Murkowski? I doubt that considering how harshly she fought the ACA.

        Republican. Since then, he left the GOP, endorsed Obama, and basically became the Democratic candidate in the gubernatorial race, winning most Dem strongholds in the state. He's about as much of a Republican as Angus King at this point.
