    Why didn't he simply say, "as so and so wrote recently in ..."

      except the ire of many of us who read the New Yorker because they, y'know, try to get thing right, down to commas and semicolons...And when they (and especially Jill Lepore, Seymour Hersh, Steve Coll, Dexter Filkins, et al) actually spend months writing an authoritative article) to have your words stolen by a "mainstream media" suckup is unforgivable.

      Zakaria should expect to get points for actually reading the New Yorker closely and getting the message....it would enhance his credibility, association with real journalists and all...

      Without geometry, life is pointless. And blues harmonica players suck.
