And Zakaria has some good qualities and shouldn't just be tossed away permanently. Same with Kearns Goodwin.

When I reread myself, I got the feeling I was being kind of a pissy scold. I apologize for that.

I just also do take this stuff pretty seriously, and while I can get the motivation in a harried college student who needs the grade and has had a billion things going on in other classes and so on, and is young -- I've been that student with my hair falling out, like if I try to do one more thing, all of what I need to know for my organic chemistry final is going to leak out of my ear -- I know the score -- a professional journalist doing it is pretty unforgivable to me.

I don't agree that his good qualities -- and yeah, there are some, sometimes -- are enough to make up for it. That's a pretty serious ethical breach in journalism, and these are the folks with the biggest soapboxes -- they need to really, really respect the responsibilities that come with that, IMO.

remark and the apology. I did feel reprimanded. But I hear that you won't budge on this (It is rather shocking to me, too) and that's okay, but we'll just disagree.
