not quite ready for commercial flights, but I'm actually quite amazed how far the technology already is. Check out the Solar Impulse.

If we weren't such damn creatures of habit and so comfortable in our wasteful ways, we would indeed have gotten serious about this a long time ago. But better late than never, I say, at this point we don't have much choice and we better hurry, but it's never too late to change.

I believe many critical thinkers underestimate the energy, resourcefulness and determination of those in charge -- the 1% or .01% or whatever -- to continue the momentum toward corporate dominance we've seen and seen increasing the last 30 years.  Unemployment is part of it; so is de-funding education and really de-funding anything of universal social importance.  When the masses are concerned mostly with their own survival, they are too pre-occupied to care about social change or, really, anything political.  This is not accidental.

The right has done a masterful job of dominating the national dialogue, and it continues apace.

OTHO, I've seen compelling predictions that in this century, Europe will overtake America as the dominant social and economic force in the world.  One can only hope.

to be worried, especially with the domination of the 1% in this country. There are certainly cases to be made for hopefulness and dispair. When I look at my own country though I have to say it's a living example that a country and culture can go from the darkest most oppressive and depressing place to one of hope, equality and innovation in just a few short generations. We don't really have that kind of time to let the US go fully insane so it can be resurrected, we have to pull that cart out of the ditch right now.
