  •  The Obama administration has said is it is (0+ / 0-)

facilitating the process of distributing arms to the rebels. They have admitted that they are also giving "non-lethal" support such as communications equipment and 'intelligence' to them.

In the least, the US is guilty of conspiracy to distribute arms to the rebels which is morally the same as the deed.

C.I.A. Said to Aid in Steering Arms to Syrian Opposition

WASHINGTON — A small number of C.I.A. officers are operating secretly in southern Turkey, helping allies decide which Syrian opposition fighters across the border will receive arms to fight the Syrian government, according to American officials and Arab intelligence officers.

The weapons, including automatic rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, ammunition and some antitank weapons, are being funneled mostly across the Turkish border by way of a shadowy network of intermediaries including Syria’s Muslim Brotherhood and paid for by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the officials said.

The C.I.A. officers have been in southern Turkey for several weeks, in part to help keep weapons out of the hands of fighters allied with Al Qaeda or other terrorist groups, one senior American official said. The Obama administration has said it is not providing arms to the rebels, but it has also acknowledged that Syria’s neighbors would do so.

Keep in mind that these countries and the US want to look like they are doing something, and so like most aid programs the hype and the publicity is a lot greater than the reality.
You can be damn sure the US and NATO countries are doing "something". That "something" may not necessarily be in the FSA's direct best interest. They are expendable -  canon fodder if you will.

If the US cannot control the outcome of civil strife in a country in their cross-hairs, they will facilitate it's destruction. This appears to be what is occurring.
