Dub & Co. exploded the deficits...so that we couldn't pay them back down without destroying the social safety net. "Oh, we did all right without it for a long time!" Repubs like to retort. Problem is, that "all right" included child labor, unsafe working conditions for adults, short life expectancies, and ultimately, wealth maldistribution so bad that it caused the Depression.

We need to remind Repubs--at every turn--that America became the most powerful nation in the world--and the greatest economy in the world--not because of their policies, but because of the regulated capitalism laid in place by FDR during the New Deal. He wasn't a "Communist"; far from it. He wanted our free market to succeed, but knew in order for it to do so, greed had to be reined in. And for over fifty years, to a great extent, it was. And during that time, America became what we still like to think of it: the most successful nation on Earth.

Repubs today want to destroy that system, and replace it not with capitalism, but "Neo-Feudalism". If ever a candidate for president epitomized that, it's Mitt. And if ever someone who profited from the system but wants to destroy it is epitomized, it's Paul Ryan. A guy who never held a private-sector job for any length of time worth talking about. Geez, no wonder Dick Cheney loves these guys...
