  •  I think the pick of Ryan can help hurting Thompson (2+ / 0-)

It is to legitimate the tea party in the ticket, then that can make harder for Thompson to survive to the primary.

    But still who knows.

Today begins the following chapter of the elections with the ticket defined and with the most important primaries done.

    •  Even if Thompson wins... (4+ / 0-)

With Pres Obama favored in Winsconsin, Thompson would need to find Obama/Thompson voters and to do that he'd need to run against the top of the GOP ticket on some issues - which he could have did against a Romney/Whomever ticket, but I can't see him running against Ryan in Wisconsin now because it would become a bigger issue of Tommy Thompson bucking fellow Wisconsinite in Wisconsin.

      •  He won't (5+ / 0-)

Directly run against him but he'll take a few issues that he'll differ from them on. Plus, Thompson is still considered a very good Governor by most and that alone will get him some moderate voters who will vote for Obama at the top of the ticket.

I predicted that Baldwin will do around 1-4 points worse than Obama on election day. And Thompson accounts for the high end of that prediction as I think he could do a good bit better than Romney/Ryan. But the other two, unless Wisconsin is a nail biter on election day, Obama's will help Baldwin across the finish line.
