    You said it -- I didn't.

Jobs are important. Remember how the auto industry "should have been let to go bankrupt"? Yeah -- great idea -- except that at least one million jobs tied to autos would have been jeopardized. NTB, every Mom&Pop auto garage, every auto accessories store in the country -- they would have been hit hard by the auto industry getting wrecked. New cars bring more people to these businesses.

What needs to happen "right now" is to be more forward-thinking. Instead of merely saying "I need a job right now!" we need to think about how to get that job and how to protect it once we get it.

Global concerns -- like oil prices, food commodity prices, food stocks, fuel stocks, non-food (like textile) stocks -- it all has an impact on whether you have a job. If manufacturing gets shipped to China, you have one less avenue for a job. If tech support goes to India, knock yet another potential job out of the picture.

Do you see how inane and twisted the Republican party has become? They want to continue shipping jobs to China and India, because it makes sense for their global conglomerates to keep their costs super-low. But if you don't have a job, you can't even afford to go to @#$%! Wal-Mart to buy a damned $50 microwave from China Industries, Inc. And if you could buy the microwave, how will you pay for food to cook in it -- or afford the electricity to run it?

Be intelligent. Read EVERYTHING THAT YOU CAN -- and make sure that YOU are "fair and balanced" in what you read. If you read an article in RedState, read two articles in HuffPost and 3 here at DailyKos. Read the WSJ AND the NYTimes. Read it all -- and weigh all of the opinions and facts against what you KNOW to be true.

I almost guarantee that you'll discover how right the Democrats are.

    Peace.

But, Red State isn't somewhere I go.  I'm guessing it's a repub site.  I just would like to see more discussion here on Daily Kos on Jobs and the Economy.

      That's all I was saying.

      Thanks.

      •  There's TONS of talk about Jobs and Economy (0+ / 0-)

        on this site!

In fact, one of the biggest stories of the last four years is how we were bleeding jobs every month until about mid-2009, when Obama began to push Congress to try to do something to fix our economy. Saving the auto industry was a big deal. Putting some regulations in-place with financial firms hasn't hurt, but hasn't helped enough, because too many Republicans took over the House and began their obstructionist ways.

Look -- the ACA, the stimulus, and protecting our shores have all helped too. If you have any kind of a job, then you are protecting it by having more money in your pocket. Encouraging the auto industry to set higher fuel-efficiency standards, helping drought-plagued counties, and keeping middle-class taxes low all help too. I know what you are saying about wanting a job -- but if you don't have all of that other stuff in-place, the job that you get won't be secure -- and won't pay enough.

If the Democrats retake the house, the next thing that Obama will do will be to put together a serious jobs bill. Heck -- he's done everything else that he promised to do when we elected him. Let's give him that chance.

      •  Well, this site is about electing Democrats (0+ / 0-)

and we are 90 days away from a big one, so that's where the focus is going to be for the next few months.
But you might be able to find more diaries about jobs and the economy if you do a tag search (and follow Joan HERE, she does a lot of diaries on labor).

        •  Just would like to see more jobs/economy diaries (0+ / 0-)

I'm all about Paul Ryan being a scuzzbucket.  I mean, just how many ways can that be said?

I'd like to see more from not only our diary writers here on jobs and the economy, but from our side of the aisle, to be honest.

Yeah, yeah..."there's all kinds of things out there said about the economy and jobs".  Yeah...okay.
