    The point that I should have tried to come to was this:

    We still need to become the world's best manufacturing, farming, and service provider on the planet. We can do that -- but we can't do it if we keep relying on China and India and the E.U. to do it for us.

    If we were all a bunch of economic marvels, we would still need to be able to grow our own food, clothe ourselves, and serve the people in our own communities. Yes, we can use some outside help, but the only way to make that make any sense is for us to be able to trade wisely -- meaning that we need to produce as much as we consume.

    If we are all consumers, without being producers, then we are truly doomed. Because they we really will lose our freedom. Freedom means making sure that we can provide for OURSELVES. And the only way to do this is to be a manufacturing and farming powerhouse.

    Period.
