Of course, everyone is different and for some, 70 is not too old for the job - but for the campaign trail? Too old. Think John McCain in a skirt.

House of Rep.? Double standard here. Women live longer in the USA.

Presidential campaign as being too tough for someone 70 years old - not the actual job.

Although, as I originally wrote, for some even 70 is too old for a job with significant stress and responsibility.

Personally, I think too many of our politicians remain in office past the time they should retire. Robert Byrd, for instance, passed while in office at the age of 92.

Personally, having worked with an older population of patients for three years at a small clinic, I do believe that anyone over 70 is likely not able to meet the rigorous strain of a national campaign.

Not the job - although I have my doubts about even that for a majority of those who are over 70 - but the campaign season which precedes it.

Besides, I feel the same whether the  person is male or female. I only mentioned Hillary, because her name was being offered up as a 2016 candidate. If I thought Barbara Boxer or even perhaps Debbie Wasserman Shultz were up to the job and had made any noise about being interested in it in 2016, I'd likely have listed them alongside Schweitzer of Montana and Feingold of Wisconsin.

          •  you are correct, I didn't realize Barbara was that (0+ / 0-)

old already - proof that some people seem a lot younger than they are when they hit their senior years.

Still, my error aside, I'd like to see younger members of Congress and in the Oval Office.

Campaign trails are tough on everyone, but the older you are, the harder it is on you. Crazy that getting to the job is harder than the job - but that's the case in our crazy system of "run for office for two years - to become the Officeholder for two years.

But that's what we're stuck with.
