  •  OK, but what does Ted Yoho... (5+ / 0-)

think about Planned Parenthood?  The guy's a Tea Partier, so I'm not exactly optimistic that he won't just go after Planned Parenthood once he's in office as well.  His website only says this.

Abortion: I am pro-life. As a Christian, I believe life begins at conception and I oppose tax payer funding of abortion.
    •  Yoho is a Ryan Budget type (5+ / 0-)

His economic platform is an echo of the Ryan plan (sans mention of medicare).  I think it's safe to say he would vote for a voucher system.

On just about every issue he's REALLY RW.

He might be a little less contraversial than Stearnes, but he's a complete Tea Douche who wants to flatten the tax code, deregulate and repeal "Obamacare".

He does seem more of a libertarian purist and specifically mentions controlling banks and lobbyists.  So Dems MIGHT be able to work with him on reducing corporate influence in government.  He's a horse country farm vet - so he's got no love for big corp interests - but that means little, IMO.  They all figure out quickly who's calling the shots in the GOP and fall in line.

Yoho believes in term limits - and however misguided - he's presenting himself as a conservative man of principle who dislikes the corruption that in his opinion stifles economic growth.  He partially right about that - but he's wrong about the social safety net and how it benefits society.  He comes off as the type who believes the social safety net is for lazy undesirables (racist? Hmm...) who drain from the self-supportive segment.  He wants to "fix" the immigration problem and his idea of a solution is legalization without citizenship for the sake of collecting tax from temp status workers.

He's got some positions the Dems might be able to work with, so he's a slight upgrade over Stearns.  Make no mistake though, he's going to vote any and all spending down and rubber stamp any tax cut - i.e. extending Bush Tax Cuts.

    •  Unfortunately replacing Stearns with Yoho (6+ / 0-)

is akin to replacing a punch in the teeth with a punch in the nose. We can argue all day which is worse, but neither are desirable. We here in the 3rd need to defeat Yoho in November.

      •  A good man for the job (4+ / 0-)
I am not part of the millionaire club that runs our country.   I am an everyday American, who like you knows what its like to have bills. I know what its like to struggle to pay these bills. There are times in my life I have had to decide which bill to pay first. I've cut coupons in the news paper, and I will almost always argue for a discount…  It just makes me human.

Yes If I am elected I will be in a much better position financially, but I will not forget where I came from. I have own my own business, I have worked for a fortune 100 company, and it’s sad to see what greed has done to our country.  Unlike so many members of the DC fraternity that I hope to soon join; who feel they get paid too little, for me that salary is plenty.  Money is important because we live in a society that demands it, but we can’t take it with us.

It would be great to see you get elected.  Best of luck.
