  •  We went to the state fair (0+ / 0-)

this last weekend in Missouri, a family tradition.  I live way out in the country surrounded by state parks so I don't see much farm land, but as we were driving I got to see the corn for the first time.  Oh my god, it was worse than anything I'd ever seen.  The stalks were only about 1.5 feet high (for those not familiar, this late in summer that's awful) and they were so dead the stalks were this golden white color.  The first field I came across it took me a full minute to realize what I was even looking at!

It's been so hot down here, just what you're talking.  110 with 30-40% humidity for weeks and weeks.  The trees are dying in the parks now, the old trees with the deepest roots seem to be surviving, but choking out all the babies.  A conservation agent was also just telling me they're finding the deer population this year is way down and they're not sure what types of permits they'll be giving out for deer season this fall.

    Times, they are a changin'.

Be still when you have nothing to say; when geniune passion moves you, say what you've got to say... and say it hot. - D. H. Lawrence
