  •  I Will Just Say This (12+ / 0-)

My father is a Republican. Worked at high levels within the DoD. Taught at the Army War College. Retired.

He has many issues with Obama.

But he will tell you Obama can't nor really should be attacked on issues like this. As many of us liberal liberals would note Obama has at many levels totally unleashed our military and intelligence community.

I mean we are raining down death on a lot of folks in countries I wasn't aware we were at war with.

So much so my father is uncomfortable with it (as I am as well).

Obama cannot allow the smallest chance that any successful terrorist attack might occur. It would be political suicide. So every possible, potential, might-be potential threat is hunted down mercilessly and destroyed even at risk of civilian casualties.

The alternative is to risk allowing the country to fall into the hands of those who are openly lusting for a full-scale war with Iran. Which, needless to say, would kill a hell of a lot more people than any drone strike ever did.

I don't expect the hapless victims who have the bad luck to rent the apartment next to that of an al-Qaida operative to understand or forgive, but in the end, what Obama's doing is choosing the option that results in the smaller pile of dead bodies. The political climate of absolute hostility and absolute non-cooperation that he has to deal with is the most important factor in tying his hands.

    •  Actually, this is akin to (6+ / 0-)

The difference is that Obama, as C-in-C, can reveal or conceal whatever, in his best judgement, is necessary.

These guys are retired worker bees using their past association with the military for a cheap shot.

      Thump! Bang. Whack-boing. It's dub!
