That someone, somewhere who is wanted for extradition has not been extradited does not mean that no one anywhere, ever should be extradited.

I know everyone likes to portray Assange as a victim of international persecution ... but these rape charges are not so easily dismissed IMNHO.

The unlikelihood that Assange would get a fair trial on those charges (or any other) is very much the point. Both Sweden and the US have engaged in rendition, which casts grave doubt on their respect for due process of law.  Plus, ask the NGOs that deal with whistleblowers issues in the US if a whistleblower can expect a fair trial and they will readily tell you that the odds of a fair trial are about 1 or 2%. That is the success rate of federal whistleblower cases in the federal court that typically hears them.

      •  If they have any interest in the rape charges (0+ / 0-)

they can question Assange in the UK as they have done many times before, including with a Serbian wanted for murder, or they could agree not to extradite him to a third country.

This is about extraditing him to the US, anybody that ignores that is ignoring reality.
