  •  Lawrence O'D last night pointed out (4+ / 0-)

that the Romneys are very careful NEVER to talk about their income tax. They ONLY speak in terms of just "tax," not "income tax." He suggested that the care with which they avoid that term is meaningful and may even suggest they Harry Reid is right, that they paid zero income tax for ten years.

In addition, he wondered whether Romney had availed himself of the tax fraud amnesty for Swiss bank account holders that was in effect a few years back, and pointed out that if, indeed, releasing his tax returns for the past ten years would reveal that, absent that amnesty, Romney would have been a tax felon, then hiding his tax returns (as his is doing) is absolutely the right thing to do, politically, because otherwise his candidacy would be immediately over.

The GOP can't win on ideas. They can only win by lying, cheating, and stealing. So they do.

your post, if you don't mind.  and that is the word availed.

this word makes it sound loike there was something voluntary about the swiss amnesty program.

there wasn't.  the feds had the swiss banks over a barrel and as part of the settlement the banks gave the irs ALL the account information  on the top 4,000 American accounts they had.

those account holders had that one year, 2009, to pay up and pay massive penalties, or else.

this year of course is the tax return no one - not the mccain campaign or the media - has seen from the romneys.

my point being that the romneys didn't step forward to do the right thing.  they were forced to.

KEEP YOUR MITT OFF MY MEDICARE! (-9.75 / -9.05)
