    I had such an identity as a "smoker" that i needed to see myself as a "non-smoker" before I could successfully quit.

    I've been tempted over the years....and the first dozen years were the hardest.  But I know that I couldn't cheat and have just one......I needed to completely stop.

    Ah, but sometimes I still smoke in dreams......and I'll wake up thinking that I've fallen off the wagon and started smoking again.

    But honestly, I just don't feel much pull anymore.  The only time I smell smoke now it just gives me a sinus headache.
