  •  One thing would be to rent lots of vans (18+ / 0-)

and make it known to those who need a voter ID that they will get a free trip to the pertinent office to get one. if they can't afford it, it will be paid for.
How to do this? I''m not sure. maybe MoveOn, or another group. A PAC?
Beat them at their own game. They're making it harder for folks to get the ID. So beat them at their own game. Flood the offices (when they're open) with people demanding their ID.
    Oh, and Republicans suck!

Isn’t it ironic to think that man might determine his own future by something so seemingly trivial as the choice of an insect spray. ~ Rachel Carson, Silent Spring ~

is the need for a birth certificate with raised seal in some states.  Obtaining this document from courthouse will have a cost-even more so if the courthouse is in another state.

I have been worrying about people being able to obtain the documentation required.  Mobile society means many may be far from place of birth, the elders may not have ever had a birth certificate, those on fixed incomes or without transportation can not easily get to their courthouse or pay for the courthouse fees.

Military/diplomatic/civil service whose dependents were born abroad in certain eras will have to obtain what is needed from the national archives since what was issued in the past was a form titled: Consular Report of A Birth Abroad.....More current eras will have to obtain Consular Report of Birth Abroad issued by the U.S Department of State......both of which may have a lengthy turnaround time.

Foreign adoptees of certain eras may be seriously screwed due to time/financial constraints
(cost+turn around in procuring docs from other countries as well as the USA)

In Georgia, just to renew your DL, one must have specific documents such as a birth certificate with raised seal & proof of residency.  Same requirements are in place for an state ID card.

So thoughtful of Georgia to enact this law on July 1st without adequate public service announcements. Initial result equaled fubar.......despite referencing a 7 year old voter ID law as the reason for the sudden implementation......(argh & grr!)

      GA checklist:

Lots of citizens-across all demographics- affected.
