A couple of New Black Panthers are proven sufficient to create an uproar. /snark

Really, you are seriously proposing intimidtion tactics where peoplehave to walk an ugly gauntlet inorder to case a vote for the candidate of their choice? Get a grip.

between what I am suggesting and what State level Republicans have already done.  Look at the diary by the guy who wasted an entire half day going to the PA DMV, only to be turned away.

What turns you off?  The bureacratic weight of voter suppression, or the civic activism that says two can play that game.  There are many ways to bust one's balls, Catte Nappe...just because one way is organizational, and done under the auspices of public employees, doesn't, at the end of the day, make much difference to the fate of your gonads.

What weapons do we have, as a people, when our elected representatives either act contrary to our interests, or refuse to act in defense of them?  Prayer?  Hope?  Retreating into a hollow feeling of moral superiority?

There is a fight afoot here.  One would hope that our side would press it to the fullest extreme.  Maybe...just maybe, if they realize that they can either address the problem, or people will address it for them, they will get off their asses and get serious about this.

My sister had to walk such an ugly guantlet in order to cast a vote once.  Her vote was to abort her fetus.  So yeah...there are ugly guantlets out there.  Unfortunately, it always seems to be us who have to walk them.

      •  What we have (3+ / 0-)

We have a call to do everything in our power to cast our vote, and to help others to do the same. That is a very different animal than staging gauntlets to intimidate people who wish to cast theirs.

I am sorry your sister had that experience - an all too common one, I know. One that is countered by dedicated volunteers who walk with, and protect. Similarly there is an ugly gauntlet the Westboro folks like to stage at funerals and other events. Again, countered by dedicated volunteers who protect those who are grieving. You don't overcome the hate by escalating your own version of it. But I think you know that.

the other side recognizes no rules, and rubs their hands together when their opponents do recognize rules.

This is an interesting philosophical debate, that deserves its own diary.

Care to dance?  We could do a joint Q&A, and a joint discussion of what is "fair" or "proper" in the context of modern politics and economic forces.

It could make for a good discussion.  An important one, even.

escort clinic patients and I think that's the right way to fight back.
