  •  y'know, i agree with everything that you're saying (6+ / 0-)

you're saying, but there's one thing that i take issue with in the email that you wrote.

'We gay people get it. Maybe you straight people don't know how frequently Tony Perkins and Family Research Council tells the world all gay people are sick, vicious, predatory pedophiles.'

i understand that you were probably very angry when you wrote this, please don't lump all straight people in with these assholes. some of us straight people try to correct the lies and misinformation and educate people too.

    •  I was addressing Diehl (10+ / 0-)

And being ignorant of the hate Family Research Council spews is definitely a sign of heterosexual privilege and supremancy. Not a luxury gay people can afford.

You're not being "oppressed" when another group gains rights you've always enjoyed.

not feel offended for myself. Just kind of embarassed a (most likely) fellow citizen is that comfortable being ignorant and hateful (TP and FRC).

I also don't know how often TP and FRC shoot off their mouths because I find them nasty at best and evil at worst.

I know Scott W. and Scottie T. and others keep track of this stupidity so I don't have to.

Thanks, guys. Sorry you have to encounter this meanness.

        •  Yeah...I wasn't actually 'offended' or anything (0+ / 0-)

I was just reading through it kind of quick and replied after one reading of the diary. I think when anybody says 'you [any group of] people', it automatically sets off alarms in my head.

I mainly just wanted to make sure that the diarist doesn't think that ALL straight people think the same way as TP and FRC do....and after reading his response, I realized that I (as usual) just started typing without putting too much thought into what I was saying first.
