    But that doesn't mean it's not a hate group. The two are not mutually exclusive... and increasingly (alas) that seems to be the case in Republican circles.

    Mainstream conservative thought continues to become more divisive, hate-filled, and backwards (driven by "deeply-held beliefs" or not) as this campaign progresses. Fringe conservative thought is now the province of the sane ones -- the Eisenhower Republicans or fiscal conservatives who have been relegated to the sidelines (far-far-right loonies seem to be more in line with today's Republican center).

    I won't go so far (at this moment) to say that the Republican Party is a hate group... but the daylight between it and the hate groups is growing mighty slim.
