  •  I've moved away from calling them stupid (10+ / 0-)

After seeing Bachmann's campaign haul in July AFTER making all of what are clearly insane comments about Muslims, i've come to think of these people as calculatingly evil.  They know what they say is hurtful and obscene, but they say it knowing it riles up a certain base that they count on to come out for them and give them $$$.

Stupidity is you don't know what you're saying.  I think they know exactly what they're saying and to me I consider that more evil.

    •  And in Bachmann's case she knows now that (2+ / 0-)

she cannot be touched no matter what she says.  She hauled in over a million $$$ in July after saying things that were blatant lies and way over the top and NOTHING happened to her, she was REWARDED for saying those things.
And, if she were by some odd/remote chance censored or admonished by the House, she's scream 'persecution' and haul in even more $$$.

    •  We can only hope that... (0+ / 0-)

their insane base is shrinking, shrinking and shrinking.

Akin - on the Science committee no less - covers his statement by saying that "doctors" told him those "facts."

King never heard of one case??  Either he is woefully uninformed, too uninformed to remain in congress, or he is lying.

Stupid?  Maybe. Evil? Definitely.  Calculating? Definitely.

Insane, regressive and just plain wrong?  100%
