I'm at work and can't listen ATM but I read the description:

0:11 King says he didn't want to give his thoughts on Akin's comment because he wasn't sure of the context of the remark. However king says he supports Todd Akin's character. "Todd Akin is a strong, Christian man, with a wonderful family."

0:45 But, King says, instead of focusing on one phrase... and turning it into a national issue, voters should focus on the big picture. "I think this election should be about, how did Todd Akin vote and what did he vote for and what did he stand for and in this case, I'm seeing the same thing... Petty personal attacks substituting for strong policy."

1:13 Right now, Medicaid also covers abortions for victims of statutory rape or incest - for ample, a 12 year old who gets pregnant. Congressman King says he's not aware of any young victims like that. "Well I just haven't heard of that being a circumstance that's been brought to me in any personal way, and I'd be open to discussion about that subject matter.

It sounds like he's defending Todd's character rather than Todd's rape comments.  I think that is still an important distinction.  I've been defending Catanese's parsing of Todd's comments for the past few days on philosophical grounds even though I strongly oppose Todd's comments.

As for your comment, again, thanks for the link, and I don't think King is supporting Akin's take on this particular issue.  Crucially, King's abortion comments have to do with his own view of abortion and Medicaid's cover thereof, not on Akin's rape/abortion comments or views.

For the sake of rigor :)
