    because the Washington Post article, the petition and this from EFF are all dated at least six weeks after the article you cite, so apparently they all think what the government needs to do hasn't been done yet.

      Sanctions aimed at Syria and Iran are hindering opposition, activists say

      “The thing about the sanction effort is that . . . they’ve actually done more harm than good,” said Jillian C. York of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, a rights group that was among the signatories to an open letter this summer that called on large Internet companies to apply for export licenses.

      Not sure what your point is, either than to try and disagree.
