    are not around as much anymore.

    I live on the East Coast. I keep wondering, "Where are all the seashells?" The beach we spent time at when I was a child was always full of seashells and a lot of them- many kinds. You would hear crunching as you walked by the sea. Now, I rarely see a seashell when we visit the coast. Where are they? What is happening?

    The Box Turtles used to wander around after a rain sometimes under the Magnolia tree. I would get as close to them as I could and look at their feet and shell- they always seemed to be swimming even in the grass. I miss them and want to see them around.

    Beautiful essay! I lived in the PNW for a bit. I fixed salmon with blackberries and fennel. And oh, the coffee!!!
