When you Troll Rate something, as a trusted user, you are stating that the comment should be made invisible to all site users. You're saying that the comment is so bad -- so disruptive or damaging to the community -- that it isn't worth even a debate, but should be deleted from the discussion as being simply inflammatory, simply off-topic, or simply a lie. Remember that, because that is the only use of the troll rating. It is an editorial vote to delete a comment from the conversation.
You don't like the humor? Comment. Any HR should really be explained. Not appropriate is a tad broad.

Seriously offensive humor has been hide rated here. Rape, holocaust, religion, sexual orientation, especially with malicious tone.

Sorry for the lecture. Full campaign season is going to get hair trigger reactions going. Already a lot of hot topics triggering stress reactions. Humor dissipates the stress, expect it to break out all over. Smile/laugh, they release serotonin and endorphins, which are good for anything that ails you.

      •  Inflammatory? For whom? (10+ / 0-)

This was a perfect snarky illustration of the mindset being discussed.  The only ones who should be taking offense are Todd Akin types who are being skewered.

"bitches love me" is inflammatory / offensive.

I thought it was tongue in cheek.  I see your point in that tone can. Be difficult to perceive in written comments like this.  Karmsy should consider snark tag perhaps, but comment not hide worthy in my opinion, especially after karmsy said they were joking right after.

            that you uprated this comment:

You just can't trust the beyotches. Never could:
But you hide rated this one:
Nah. I'm a popular guy :) Bitches love me.
I would say that the first is far more inflammatory than the second, assuming of course that neither of them are snark, which they both clearly are.  Did you not realize the one you HRed was snark?  If so, you need to upgrade your snark sensor.

If you knew it was snark and HRed it anyway, you've just applied an ugly double standard.  I passed the comment up that you HRed without rating it either way and didn't plan on rating it at all until I saw the BS explanation of your HR.  I'm uprating to counter your offensive HR.

If you're going to be offended by what is clearly snark, at least be f***ing consistent about it.

            •  here's the deal: I could see that the first (0+ / 0-)

one was putting down the GOP for traditionally trashing women, all the way back to Adam and Eve (there's more context available, in other words).

The second one reads, to me, like an indictment of women's taste (or lack thereof, since I've no idea what that commenter's really like) with a terrific measure of arrogance on top of it. I find it offensive, and no, I don't "get" the "humor" in it.

              •  There is context there (0+ / 0-)

in the previous comment to which it was a reply, you just chose to ignore it.

I don't "get" the "humor" in it.
Here's a hint: look at the comment that karmsy replied to (the one that provides the context).  It asks a specific question of a specific type of person (another hint: the same kind of person that Digby skewered in her post).  Karmsy's reply was an answer to that question, emphasis added:
See, what it really comes back to is that these are men who loathe women and think they're all conniving thieves who just want them for their money and planned all along to divorce them, take the kids and the house and clean them out.

I mean, it couldn't have to do with the fact that no woman could stand to be around you, could it?

"What that commenter's really like" is entirely moot because they were speaking as a "m[a]n who loathe[s] women and think[s] they're all conniving thieves who just want them for their money" and the snark reflects an indictment of that attitude and - yes - of that arrogance, not of women.  It is indeed the same snark apparent in Digby's post.

                Get it now?

the first rule of holes, which is that when you find yourself in one, stop digging.

That comment is no more inflammatory than Digby's post irrespective of how you claim to find it because it is exactly the same snark.

That you are still hypocritically trying to make a distinction between the two despite the fact that it has been more than clearly explained to you (which shouldn't have been necessary in the first place because it was pretty damn obvious) makes me suspect that you have some prior beef with karmsy that you are now passive-aggressively taking out on him by feigning to not get the joke.

Surely you can't be that dense.
