New Hampshire is number one in the nation for highest median income.  It is number fifty for per capita donations to charity.  I've lived on SSI since moving to NH.  The few times I've managed to find work, the entire amount I earned has been automatically deducted from future payments.  My earnings are tracked by the Federal Social Security office and they haven't missed a dollar I've earned. Yet, my food stamps are canceled every few months if I don't make the 40 mile round trip to the nearest NH Social Services office to be reassessed.  They already have proof that my income status hasn't changed but that is of no concern to them when screwing people out of food stamps reduces their budget. When they find I've been eligible all along, they never restore the missed food stamps.  Heck, they pulled my Medicaid for the same non-reason forcing me to cancel an important doctor appointment that had taken me months to get.  I still haven't managed to get it reset or take the tests the doctor ordered and I still don't know if what is wrong with me might be a return of cancer.  I've watched the cost of food go up nearly 100% since 2004 yet the food stamp allotment, when it isn't being screwed with down to nothing, hasn't gone up by 10 cents.

The GOP is actively seeking more selfish bastards to move to NH to dodge taxes -- they call them Free Staters.  Best they not try to start a small business here though as we have the 4th highest business taxes of any state. Fuel prices have soared but heating aid has dropped.  Now the GOP ruled state government wants to eliminate food stamps, meals on wheels, as well as turn Medicare into a voucher system which will only provide decent health coverage to people who are already wealthy enough to fill the gap between their income and their voucher to buy decent insurance. If people try to grow their own food, the County Extension service which helps people with pest and plant diseases on farms and food gardens has been denied any funds.

I'm running for office here -- a position for one of the three County Commissioner jobs in the largest county by far in the State.  If I get in my goal will be to stop at least the county government from pushing struggling people over the cliff. If I don't win, I'll be one of those thrown over the cliff after a life time of working and saving until I became disabled.

Even under a Democratic majority this state sucked at providing a safety net but under the GOP we really will see people starving and freezing to death. Some don't wait for that end and simply commit suicide at the start of winter. I lost one dear friend to that despair already. Have I mentioned lately that I hate the GOP?

the Free State initiative isn't a GOP run thing. The one's who agree are free to run as they choose and some of them have run as Democrats. Though, I could understand how most of them would register as Republicans if they decided to choose a party.

        Free State intent statement:

I  hereby state my solemn intent to move to the state of New Hampshire. Once there, I will exert the fullest practical effort toward the creation of a society in which the maximum role of civil government is the protection of life, liberty, and property.
I've attended a lot of Republican events, speeches, and even GOP HQ.  I've heard a lot of GOP ownership of the Free Staters in NH. Although it lines up more with Ron Paul's brand of libertarianism, remember that Paul was running for the GOP nomination,  not as a third party libertarian.

Now, back to the discussion of starving people.

    •  Sounds To Me Like They Are "Free Loaders" - The (0+ / 0-)

so-called "free staters" want to live in America, but don't want to pay any taxes. I say to them, go live in Somalia where there is no government and no taxes - and let me know how you like having an illiterate population, unpaved roads, no clean water supply, no sewage system, no FDA to safety test the pills you are taking, no USDA to inspect the food you are eating, no safety standards for buildings, etc.  I am sick of these idiot libertarians.
