My partner and our family are big on climate issues and what we can do as a family on reducing our footprint.  We use CFL's and LED lights, etc.  we compost our kitchen scraps, recycle almost everything we can.

    What else can we do?

rent or own).  A lot of energy is wasted because our homes are so leaky; if you haven't already, you could have an energy audit (many utilities companies do these free).  If you own, you might want to improve your insulation or upgrade your furnace.

Cheaper or free things include unplugging (or turning off a power strip) of appliances when they aren't on; things like tvs, especially, can be "zombies" or "vampires", using almost as much energy off as on.

But my personal feeling is that we're beyond the point where individual changes are enough; we need a movement.  So join one.  :)
