period.  That is part of the job description in the same way that a knowledge of Algebra is a job requirement for math teachers.

In 1960 JFK campaigned on the missle gap.  Which did not exist.

In 1968 Nixon said he had a secret plan to end the way in Vietnam.  Which did not exist.

In 1998 Bill Clinton walked in front of the nation and said he did not have sex with that woman.

Bush lied about Iraq - and most everything else.

In this context Obama is pretty trustworty, but in the '08 Ohio Primary he said things about Nafta he did not believe.

    Trust none of them.

    •  All politicians parse the truth and even lie, but (14+ / 0-)

when I say that Romney is the most dishonest man to run for President, I mean it goes deeper with him.  He has no core values and stands for nothing.  He has been willing to take whatever stance he believes will get him what he wants.  There are no internal ethical bounds to his ambition.  He is simply driven by greed and ambition.

Bushes.  In the end most politicians are about personal ambition.

I think what is unusual about Romney is how OBVIOUS it is that he believes in nothing.

        •  Even Mitts 'friends' don't like him. (1+ / 0-)

Mitt avoided serving his country in the easiest and most transparent way when he went to France and 'roughed' it in a French chateau for two years while proselytizing his Mormon religion.  I can be forgiven for believing that Mitt has never done a thing that didn't benefit himself first.  Nixon served in the navy in WWII as did almost all eligible men of his generation and I don't think he did it with the knowledge he would need the experience of service to run a campaign for public office.  Mitt is a wholly self-serving, greedy and alienated example of anomie ever to appear on the American political stage.  I'm repelled.
