Just once, I'd like to see one of these prognosticators come on TV the day after the announced date of the end of the world, and say:

That means that NONE of us met God's standards, so we're all in for the Tribulations.
I'm tired of them getting off by saying that because they're still here, they must have made a math error.

    •  I have one of those 'waiting for the rapture' (8+ / 0-)

folks as my next door neighbour.  One day when she was complaining to me about some of the other neighbours that were not quite up to her expectations I said 'don't worry, they are only waiting for you to be gone in the rapture and then they are going to move into your house.  She was not amused and has never preached to me since.

      •  We have one, too. He was all ready for the last (1+ / 0-)

one that was predicted - bumper stickers on the car and everything. My husband wanted to ask him if he could have his boat when he was gone. :)

Seriously, what do these true believers think when the predicted end doesn't come to pass? And our neighbor is not an uneducated person. How does he/they resolve this in his mind?

God took away a few hundred thousand, which are nobody you or I know, obviously, and no one noticed. They truly were the pure of spirit, living alone in the deserts and jungles and remote places of the world, or in the inner city ghettos, poor and unnoticed by anyone.

We ARE the ones left behind. THAT always gets an interesting reaction...

    •  Wow, your subject line - a great bumpersticker (0+ / 0-)

Then again, I am constantly seeing great potential
bumpersticker messages from the folks here.

You are added to the list!
