    like my father's.  It took him YEARS to get rid of the makeup in my mom's makeup drawer.  It felt like he would keep every mascara, lipstick and eyeshadow forever, and one day I looked and they weren't there -- which was hard in its own way.

    It feels like less and less of my mom (in a material sense) exists every year.  I guess, in a way, it feels like less and less of ME exists every year; less and less of my childhood, fewer and fewer shared memories.
