usually go "off list". I can understand buying some things on sale that you are going to use in time, but things with expiration dates make me nervous. (I don't know if we can finish all that cereal in time, but since it doesn't really get stale right away, there's a chance!) But clearing out the back of one of my cupboard shelves and putting all the waxed paper rolls in one place was an eye opener. I count things and put the number on a paper on the inside of the cupboard door so I can see when I'm getting low and need to buy more. For waxed paper, I have 46 rolls. I don't think I'll need any for a while.

suggestion could get me on a wax paper binge...(lol).
The thing for the cereal I would most be concerned with is little bitty bugs getting in there..That usually happens after expiration date goes out.   Maybe donating some of the cereal to the food pantry might be a solution while exp. date is still good.

not afraid to chance it. The won't run out until 2013 for the most part. As for waxed paper, it works great in the microwave, and to wrap sandwiches. I feel better not using plastic, as I can put the used waxed paper into the compost.
