    they are native to parts of India and Pakistan that get serious frosts... Peafowl are a lot hardier than most people realize.  They live wild in Kashmir and can handle serious cold. They've naturalized in SW Michigan, and regularly survive 10F or so.

      time I saw a male with a full tail fly up and perch on the top of a telephone pole. It had to be a pretty darned heavy handicap. If they were capable of any distance the darned things could deliver the sunday paper.
