    We helped the USSR with the Lend Lease act, yes, but the Soviets never forgot Wilson's aggressive support of the White Russians.  At one point we technically invadd Russia.  Stalin might have listened to aggressive overtures from FDR, but just as likely he'd have told FDR to take his suggestion and shove it up his interventionist American ass.

      In 1918-1920, the US sent several thousand troops to Siberia as part of an allied force of Brits, French, Japanese, etc. These troops never worked together for a common goal and just added to the chaos. Each foreign contingence acted on its own agenda. The US troops hated the occupation from the start because they were just sitting there and getting shot at and getting into shooting wars with the local people they had no grudge against whatsoever.

      The only reason the Americans were there - when you cut through all of Wilson's bs - is that Wilson didn't like socialism.

      For the Soviet Union, that was the start of the Cold War.
