  •  The voucher value is based on (4+ / 0-)

the cost of the second lowest priced plan, if I remember correctly. Therefore, if there are 2 or more cheap catastrophic-only type plans, the value of the voucher could be less than the $6K figure being tossed about. The only thing we know for sure about a defined contribution plan is that the amount of the contribution is going to be too damned small for the medical needs of almost every senior.

    •  And whose gonna insure the millions of disabled (5+ / 0-)

Americans under 65 who rely on Medicare? No one talks about us. What private insurer is gonna accept some low-rent coupon--that doesn't even cover a healthy senior's cost--for a younger adult whose pre-existing condition(s) qualified her for SSDI? Which, by definition, means she's 'unable to work any job in the American economy?' You have to have fairly significant medical issues to meet that definition.

You can't issue a voucher enticing enough to make a private insurer take on that burden. Where is the GOP platform plank explaining the 'free market solution' for millions of disabled American adults who rely on Medicare? And Social Security?

Ho'oponopono. To make things right; restore harmony; heal.

How evil we are as Americans.

The radical Republican party is the party of oppression, fear, loathing and above all more money and power for the people who robbed us.
