I can't really assess what the effect might be not having the two versions to compare.

You're not being "oppressed" when another group gains rights you've always enjoyed.

Ritchie is the Secretary of State of MN and a Democrat.

Ritchie's ballot title read "Limiting the Status of Marriage to Opposite Sex Couples." The wording now reverts to "Recognition of Marriage Solely Between One Man and One Woman." That one word, "limiting," properly framed the ballot item as restricting civil liberty. That's why our enemies hated it.
The final wording reflects the direction of the state Legislature (R majority in both houses).

At the end of the 2011 legislative session, the Legislature passed the marriage amendment bill with a title stating: “Recognition of Marriage Solely Between One Man and One Woman.” Ritchie rewrote the title to state: “Limiting the Status of Marriage to Opposite Sex Couples.”
I suggest that 10 weeks is long enough to tie the two titles together with the right sort of ads, and could even be turned into a plus if played right.

Thanks to already-built-in anthropogenic climate change, our planet will only be able to sustain half a billion humans in 2100 AD. Human population will probably reach 9 billion in 2050 AD. Will your descendants be among the 'lucky' one-in-eighteen?
