  •  Wish I could be there today, AnnieJo (24+ / 0-)

    but I work tonight.

I haven't focused on the Sing Alongs since the election, but if the goal as stated by the Capitol chief is to "hit people," I am seriously concerned for everyone, especially the children.

As a former head of a municipal police commission, I can tell everyone that such a statement (and resultant actions) are not appropriate police reactions. You won't find instructions or guidelines like that in any police manual. Indeed, "just hitting people" could lead to serious injuries, but the even worse result to this administration would be the lawsuits that could cost the taxpayer a mint if the Capitol police are ordered to be that unprofessional. Police are supposed to keep the peace and protect people. If they're "just hitting," they are no better than a vigilante mob... and a waste of my tax dollars to boot.

I would never do anything to provoke an action. I have always obeyed the rules in the Capitol. However, if Chief David Erwin is so hell-bent on hitting people, I figure taking down a 100 lb granny chaplain with lupus is a good target for a bat guano brained individual such as him. It would make good headlines, ones he can pass on to his grandchildren.

You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else. -- Sir Winston Churchill
