  •  One quote stuck out at me above: (5+ / 0-)

That a sheriff had to reconnect a communications line that had been cut by FEMA and then place an armed guard on that line to guard against FEMA doing it again!

Yea, I am sure locals were terrified too. I am sure they wondered what the actual reason was, for the entry of the National Guard, with no food or water.

Sheriff's Deputies [22 of them] with all terrain vehicles and 12 days worth of food, and fuel were turned away BY FEMA  from conducting search and rescue on their neighbors. WTF?!

I haven't been able to find the news stories to confirm it, But I recall personally, watching the television and hearing that military personnel from neighboring bases were reprimanded for flying in on military assets and pulling people off of roofs of houses and out of trees in flood waters.

So this was ORDERS from the Federal Government, this wasn't a naturally occurring leadership vacuum, this one was artificially created.

I hope some day there is a serious investigation conducted on this. The little court cases against local law enforcement--fine, Skewering Brownie? Fine. but This needed to be dissected from every angle.
