to be an educated, well rounded socially liberal person ought to strive to be perfectly astute on the subject of the history of slavery and racism in the United States. Colleges offer Black History courses all the time. The class should actually be called REAL American History 101. Being black is sometimes not even enough to understand it all.

Black people are generally not taken seriously because of this long, twisting history if racism, hate and stereotypes. Not taken seriously as human beings that have every right to their personal dignity and autonomy. If the police in this country got away with killing and brutalizing thousands of black teenagers in my youth and still today, telling and outright, baldfaced lie on the black president of the United States. That's nothing. The racists are extremely disrespectful and particularly gleeful in their nastiness when they put down the first lady. The history of black women as property and in some kind of servile position is etched in their minds. They feel free to proverbially spit on her. When she's in a respected position because her husband was elected in a free democracy, they can't stand it. They want to snatch her down from what they see as a pedestal. The nerve of Michelle Obama to be so awesome. It's like they want to throw mud at her like jealous teen girls ganging up on the pretty girl who stole their boyfriend. It's ridiculous.

That people believe those ads doesn't surprise me a bit. They WANT to. Welcome to America. The raging racism monster is upon us all now that a black person has gotten himself elected president. It's not up to black people to eradicate it. It's up to white people to know racism 101 like any other subject they study and realize that it's not just a problem for ethnic folks. It's affecting us all now.
