  •  Progressives are very lucky in 2012 that.... (18+ / 0-)

....they have such an effective communicator as President Obama and that conservatives are saddled with the inept Mitt Romney.  It won't always be that way.

    •  I had that very thought recently. (5+ / 0-)

I think the real purpose of this campaign is not necessarily to elect Romney --that'd be gravy-- but to push flat-out propaganda techniques so the precedent is set for the next campaigns.

This where something like Rmoney not releasing his taxes becomes no minor issue. Obfuscation and lying is nothing new in politics- but if the American public seems to accept that an almost certain tax cheat (on perhaps a huge scale) can get away with running on a "business" record- with no questions about the particulars of the business record really asked or allowed- then we just might have crossed a very bad threshold.

as the day will come again when the Republicans control the White House, Senate, House..happened during the Bush years not long ago..can happen again and with the Teabaggers taking over the Repub party and moving it very far right and where batshit right wing is the norm of the party scares me.

What is going to happen to this country 4 to 5 to 10 years from now and longer is what troubles me greatly..more so than the immediate future of the next 2 years...Don't get me wrong, I am working hard at GOTV and volunteering for the President and other Democrats...I take nothing for granted, few do.

      •  If the GOP moves *too* far right.... (0+ / 0-)

There was once a party called the Federalist Party. It moved too far to the right, began advocating secession (of New England, believe it or not), had trouble finding candidates it could agree on and support...and by 1820 it was to all intents and purposes history. Sic transit the party of Washington, Adams, and Hamilton.

        If it's
        Not your body,
        Then it's
        Not your choice
        And it's
        None of your damn business!
