she too has her version of truthiness. It's got a sort of liberal bias but it's very selective. It's certainly not hard news, it's the  Democratic version of political kabuki. It's not outright lies like Fox or CNN or even NPR but it definitely isn't facts or truth. All our media operates in the political arena, the battle of our truth vs. theirs. Even the questions in the 'debates' are founded on a reality that the powers that be call reality.

Data can be used but truth is more then a set of numbers. Most people don't believe either side. They just pick the version of reality that suits their own bias. The debt crisis being one, the  GWOT  another. Then there is the culture wars in which both sides stir the pot pitting people against each other. There is nothing truthful about the culture wars as they inflame emotions and fear that obscures the by-partisan skull drudgery.

How can you have the truth when both sides are operating on a storyline that is anything but the truth. Politics are not by nature truthful.  In a real democracy the fourth estate is part of the process we have no fourth estate.

but I don't buy the "both sides do it" argument.  That's your own version of "truthiness."  Just because Maddow is a liberal doesn't equate to her reporting not being "facts or truth."  "Liberal reporter" does not equal "liberally-biased reporting."  You're parroting the "liberal media bias" lie without any supporting "facts or truth" to back up that BS claim.

I also have to wonder why you're here peddling some of the right's favorite bits of propaganda.

I listened to Rachael for years on Air America before she went on MSNBC. Are you questioning my party loyalty comrade? lol. There you go, the truth is I'm a Democrat. A card carrying member of my county party. Of course her 'liberal' bias does not equal liberal media bias. There is no liberal media. Partisan yes liberal no. When Rachael presents her facts it is in the context of 'the Republicans are worse' reality. The reality where both side screw us and call it oh say the Deficit Crisis or the Affordable Care Act, which in truth are both relative depending on if you can afford it and who owns the gamblers debts.

She herself has said that in another era she would be an Eisenhower Republican. This is not liberal her stance on the wars are not liberal she's also a big fan of free market neoliberalism. In short a centrist New Democrat which while not RW in this upside down NWO is certainly not liberal. I did not say her facts were wrong but as I said the truth in politics isn't just data it's relative and while facts and numbers don't lie the lie is is the telling and usage and context.

I did not say her facts were wrong...
No, you said that what she reports "definitely isn't facts and truth," though that's a distinction without a difference.
Are you questioning my party loyalty comrade?
You tell me, you're the one here going out of your way to bash Rachel Maddow and spout right-wing "both sides do it" talking points.

I agree that Maddow isn't perfect but she's a lot closer to it than most, unless you want to try to tell me that she's on the same level as idiots like Wolf Blitzer.  If you really do want better media, you need to stop the circular firing squad.  Aim your guns at the quibbling perveyors of false equivalence that are rampant throughout the media, not at the closest thing to "good guys" that we have.

          •  Both sides do,do it ... (0+ / 0-)

right wing talking points are the only talking points that are being tossed around. 'Talking points' are propaganda.  Memes, messaging, spin or parsing whatever you want to call them they have nothing to do with the truth. You need to get over the, if you don't buy the Dems. talking points your a right winger, mentality.

Lots of Dems aren't buying 'the right wing talking points' this current lot of Vichy Dems are preaching. Better stick to fear of the right wing nut cases as trying to meme austerity, neoliberal policy, banksters from GS, GE that varies little from the even more insane Republicans, it just doesn't cut it. Here's Obama's latest pronouncement regarding the Repugs and the economy/budget debacle.

I’m prepared to make a whole range of compromises, some of which I get criticized from the Democratic Party on, in order to make progress. But we’re going to need compromise on your side as well. And the days of viewing compromise as a dirty word need to be over because the American people are tired of it.
So lets see compromise with the extremists is good it's two legs better. Compromise with these lunatics kinda  makes your point invalid. If their so damn scary why in the hell would the Democratic party compromise instead of fighting? Why because this administration is not democratic or Democratic.

Is this the words of a Republican? A traitor to our party? No just another pol, who calls the nighttime day. Good luck to us all  and we will most likely win as the opposition is just insane .

My question is what do we win? At least our vagina's will be safe. Circular firing squads require people who shot themselves in this we agree we as the Democrat's are shooting ourselves out of fear of the RW with who we will of course compromise with.  The strongest argument we have is pathetic and so truthful it all boils down to 'what choice do we have? Dumb or Dumber?  Fear or Fear? Great but please don't talk about the truth that's just lame to anyone who with eyes wide open looks at the non choice we have.
