  •  I don't call atheism a religion, but some (0+ / 0-)

religions are atheistic. Not sure Darwin was an expert at religions.

and, no, atheism is not a religion.

Atheism is based on rationality and understanding based in reason,  facts and scientific thought (and don't bring up scientific theory; a scientific theory is something that has been tested and proven or is being investigated based on previously proven scientific findings). No religion is atheistic. All have some basis on a supernatural hierarchy or various unprovable belief systems. Hinduism, look how many "Gods" they have. Buddhism--Reincarnation?

Communism was a philosophy, not a religion.

(Dismounts high horse, dusts off chaps, and heads back to the corral to give said horse a good cool off walk, brush her and let her have a good meal of oats and hay.)

      •  Atheism means not believing in the existence (0+ / 0-)

of a god or gods. In that sense, there are atheistic religions. Reincarnation is not a theist belief. Atheism need not be based on rationality.
