  •  Ironically the only way for them to really (6+ / 0-)

get the latino vote in any lasting way is for them to support policies that make latino people prosperous. maybe then you can appeal to greed, which, sadly, is a a human trait.

But when you relegate a population to fearing being asked for paperwork and working for sub-minimum wages under fear of accusations of being here illegally; when they have to work 8 jobs between 3 people and live in a tiny apartment just to make ends meet, what does the GOP expect to happen?

That's a conundrum for them with ANY economically (and racially) challenged group. They can't stop USING US as cheap labor long enough to understand that if they're making $60, 70, 150,000+ a year, they might pull a few percentage points just out of sheer greed. But nope.

The plutocrats NEED slave labor. The country cannot prosper without it. It was founded on it and it continues to this day, which is where all the manufacturing jobs went and where our domestic spinach comes from.

    So they're fucked.

Worst for them is that these two cycles have probably done as much irreversible damage to their ability to pull latinos in the future as the elections of the 60s did to permanently alienate blacks from their party as well.

For the record, I am not a member of Courtesy Kos. Just so you know. Don't be stupid. It's election season. My patience is short.
