I've watched this in my mostly angry old white cohort; they whittle away at who and what is acceptable until at 50 something there's basically no one left for them to relate to except the four guys they drink beer with, and three of them are kind of iffy sometimes.
This is just the demographic disaster the GOP is facing.

    Here's another for 2012:
In the 4 years since 2008 just about 10million Americans have died, mostly from old age. Over the same 4 years, about 13 million kids have passed (or will reach) their 18th birthday and become eligible to vote.

Now there's a lot more going on here (voter suppression efforts, typical voter apathy at younger ages, etc.) but it is undeniable nationwide that 10 million people are no longer on the voting rolls, with most of them from the 65+ category. That group currently tilts GOP and McCain won it by 8 points.

OTOH Obama won the 18-24 y.o. vote by 36 points (66-30).

    The WAVE is here......

The Rethugs may still vote them even though they are dead.
Seems there was a story in the news about a GOP county party chair whose girlfriend had voted in every election up to 2010.. She died in 2007 or some such.

I do remember years ago hearing about religious right kids bussed to nursing homes to "help" the old folks to vote.

      •  The REAL voter fraud is self inflicted; (0+ / 0-)

voters who suffer themselves to be the tools of the Plutocracy by voting R are willfully defrauding themselves.

A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.
      Ernst Planckc
For "scientific truth"  in the quote above read "political truth".
Ernst Ludwig Planckc (23 April 1858 – 4 October 1947) was one of the most important German physicists of the late 19th and early 20th century, winning the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918; he is considered to be the founder of quantum theory.
For "German"  in the quote above read "Human".
As an example of the quoted proposition, Einstein did not love Planckc and dismissed his theory as "Spooky action at a distance" and many agreed at the time. 80 yers later, both are dead, and the major scientific challenge of our time is the attempt to reconcile Einstein with Planckc (not vice versa), General Relativity with Quantum Theory, now Planckc's ideas are accepted as doctrine and Einstein's of having been in error on this subject.

However dissimilar in accomplisment or intellect my classmates are to these two great minds, the principle applies regardless. Thank goodness for Darwin and Entropy. Either the best ideas win out or we die out. Now is the time to choose.
