    SUV production ended in Janesville on Dec. 23, [2008] a little more than five months after the plant lost a second shift of production. More than 2,000 hourly and salaried GM workers were laid off as a result of the production cuts. Supplier companies laid off another 1,200 people.
    Not a chance the president could have saved this plant.  The die was cast long before he had the opportunity to do anything at all.

      And from the second article I cited, Mr. Obama says, " As president, I will lead an effort to retool plants like the GM facility in Janesville so we can build the fuel-efficient cars of tomorrow ..."

      If that happened, it didn't happen in Janesville. But there's always the great hope of the Chevy Volt.
