I don't see how it's a conflict for American Jews at all. The US will always be there for Israel far beyond what any other nation could ever get from us. I think it's perfectly easy for an American Jew to see that Israel is as safe as it possibly can be with Obama as president.

It's a single issue kind of issue, like abortion with Catholics. But unlike with abortion, the differences between the parties vis a vis Israel are negligible. Jews don't have to vote on that issue, so they're free to vote on all the other issues ... and like most intelligent, educated people, they vote Dem.

    •  I remember going to a forum in 2008 (0+ / 0-)

sponsored by the Israel Project here in Cleveland where surrogates for Obama and Hillary — Adam Schiff and Anthony Weiner (McCain declined to send anyone — maybe a hint as to why Jews don't vote Republican?) — vying to convince the crowd that their candidate was more slavishly pro-Israel than the other. It was kind of a low point of the 2008 campaign here for me.

Take the "Can't(or)" out of Congress. Support E. Wayne Powell in Va-07.
