    of what you describe at work but there's also one other and that is, adversarial TV news with two valid sides sniping at each other sells advertising and ups ratings.  If they let the truth out that one side is completely illegitimate, then really the debate's over so this whole notion of false equivalency makes marketing sense to them.  

    The Republican machine is on such shaky ground that without the propping up by idiotic pundits like that, they'll die a quick death and the election is essentially over along with the drama and along with their ratings.  

    Maybe we could convince them to make the ensuing rout into a spectator sport much like the Roman Colosseum events.  The brave and virtuous Democrats against the bumbling mentally unarmed and outclassed prey of the moronic Republicans.  On second thought no.  I'd hate to see the lions get indigestion.
